Today students participated in our Douglas Island Deer Study. Students were VERY well behaved and had a great time. All of their teachers are very proud of the fine work they completed over the past several weeks! We will use the data that we collected today to make estimations of deer populations in various habitats and elevations on Douglas Island. Keep an eye out for an upcoming article in the Juneau Empire which will showcase our work.

The field trip has been moved to Friday due to high winds and rain on Tuesday. The sites are all set up and the students know how to do the science. The area where we are going are very wet. Boots are a must.
All of the students will be going to North Douglas for an all day science research project Friday this week. Students will need to bring boots, rain coats, hats and gloves by Thursday. On Friday they need to bring a sack lunch as they will be eating in the woods. If your child has a compass that they can bring that would be great.

Magazine Sales: Magazine sales kicks off tonight! We hope that everyone sells magazines as this is our biggest source of funds for classroom projects, field trips, etc. Magazine sales are always met with mixed feelings, but the kids do see a return on the effort.

Don't forget (hopefully your 8th grader brought home the signature sheet), there will be a ROPES parent meeting Thursday between 5:00 and 6:00 pm at DZ (Rooms C201 and C210). 7th grade parents do not need to attend - unless you want to. Also, we are always on the lookout for people who are willing to be coaches for projects or panelists who help judge the projects at the end of the year).
