Earlier this week The Juneau Police Department received a report of a possible “Child Enticement” incident involving a male in an older-style dark colored van attempting to lure a group of 10-year-old students into his van.
The police investigation into this incident is continuing.
The Police Department and Superintendent Cowan have asked that you provide the following safety reminders in your notes home or newsletters. I will post information on school and District web sites.
"As a general safety precaution, parents are encouraged to speak with their children about stranger safety. Parent should make sure that either they know where their children are at all times. If a child leaves an area they should let their parents know where they are going. Children should not go anywhere with a person who is not a trusted adult. If walking somewhere on foot, children should walk in groups and stay with each other."
Thank you.
